Serial numbers

Maintain full control over your serialized items, from stock entry to sale.

Managing serial numbers makes it possible to uniquely identify each product and ensure complete traceability throughout its entire lifecycle.

Integrated at the core of Mercator ERP, it ensures reliable traceability, reinforced stock control, and compliance with quality or regulatory requirements.

Mercator serial number management

Assigning serial numbers

In Mercator ERP, serial numbers can be assigned:

  • Through file import (received from the supplier, for example).
  • Through manual creation, following predefined rules and formats.
  • Through automatic generation.

Each number then becomes a permanent identifier for the product, visible in all processes: purchase receipt, production, inventory and stock control, sales, after-sales service, ...

Other key features
  • Control: During a sale, the ERP can apply a strict or informative check on serial numbers to verify whether they were indeed entered into stock at some point.
  • Movement history: You can consult the history to instantly see the complete journey of a product.
  • Locations and batches: Serial number management can be linked to managing locations or batches.
Serial number & after-sales service

The serial number can be useful for managing your after-sales service.

When a customer brings in a product requiring intervention or repair, verify via its serial number that it was indeed purchased from your company.

All after-sales tracking documents will then be linked to this serial number for better follow-up.
